Sisson Museum History Night is one of the largest annual fund raising events on our calendar. It will be held on April 9, 2010. The doors open at 6:30 PM.
The event will highlight the opening of the new exhibits for the 2010 season.
Here is a sneak preview of the events of the evening:
The opening of the new Native American Basket Exhibit featuring the Stella and Ernest Wheeler, SR. Collection which has not before been seen in public.
History night will feature a basket making demonstration by Verna Reese, who is a member of the Karuk Tribal Council. She will be joined by Julia Pennington Cronin, archaeologist and Collections Manager for the Turtle Bay Exploration Park who will speak about the relationships of the many Northwestern California Indian cultures.
Charlie Tom, full-blooded Karuk Medicine Man, will offer a blessing of the basket exhibit.
The Centennial of the Boy Scouts of America will be noted by an expanded display of scouting memorabilia, and a talk by Eagle Scout Anders Dombroski.
There will be raffles and a silent auction. Snack foods will be served, and guests may enjoy a no host wine bar.
Tickets for the event are only $15.00 and are on sale at the Mt. Shasta Visitor's Center, at Village Books, and at the door.
